The Amarillo Area Foundation Nonprofit Service Center presents
“Nonprofit Leadership Academy (Cohort A)”
A series of eight classes designed to prepare YOU for nonprofit or civic board service!
Join us the third Wednesday of the month, January through August 2023, and gain the knowledge you need to be a productive and effective nonprofit Board Member. Meetings will take place in our conference center at 801 S. Fillmore, Seventh Floor, from 11:30am to 1:00pm and will include lunch. (Note: The March meeting will be held on the fourth Wednesday of the month (3/22/23) to avoid a conflict with spring break.)
The course will cover:
* An Introduction to the Nonprofit Sector * Providing Financial Oversight
* Board Roles and Responsibilities * Must Have Documents
* Best Practices of Board Governance * Nonprofit vs. Civic Leadership
* The Art and Science of Fundraising
The lead instructor for the series is Roxann Ball, Program Officer of the Amarillo Area Foundation Nonprofit Service Center. Roxann has over 25 years of nonprofit management, accounting, and fundraising experience and has been an employee of the foundation for the last fifteen years. Roxann has served on numerous nonprofit boards and committees and is a graduate of Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science degree.
At the conclusion of the training participants will receive a Certificate of Completion and enjoy a Graduation Celebration with the opportunity to connect with nonprofit leaders who are committed to diversifying their boards.
The registration fee for all eight sessions is $125.00 per person and includes all materials and lunches. A limited number of partial scholarships are available.
Eligibility Requirements
The goal of the Nonprofit Leadership Academy (Cohort A) is to reach out to under-represented sections of our community and prepare individuals to serve on nonprofit or civic boards. We are specifically seeking young community members, community members of color, and those who do not have board experience. If you feel you do not meet the above eligibility requirements but are still interested in the leadership training, please consider enrollment in the Nonprofit Leadership Academy (Cohort B) which will start in September. Only people who are a member of our target demographic should register for cohort A.
