Square Mile Community Development is honored to partner with you, Services of Hope, The Martha Nickerson-Bridgewater Foundation, Prairie View A&M Cooperative Extension Program, Amarillo Area Black Chamber of Commerce, Amarillo Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Commissioner Vaughn, and Amarillo Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance to distribute the USDA Farmers to Families Food Boxes in the Panhandle. The program was authorized under the third Stimulus Program. The date of the upcoming event is October 3, 2020 at the Tri-State Fairgrounds.
We are asking for support in funding the operation and distribution. These distributions would not be possible without our valued community partners. We are needing a title and presenting sponsorship. Additionally, we would love to have your staff, families, and friends to volunteer for the event. We are looking for in-kind support in the way of forklifts, pallet jacks, water, snacks, PPE, and freezer blankets.
Square Mile has been a distributing partner for over 50,000 meals in the Amarillo area this summer through a partnership with Services of Hope, local churches, community groups, and non-profits. On Saturday, October 3, there will be eight trucks, which will come from Dallas and Tulsa. This will provide more than 8,000 boxes (40 lbs. each) to families in our community.
The impact of the past events were felt 130 miles away from Amarillo. The teamwork and organization of the event make it impactful on every level. The upcoming event will serve three states, immigrant, refugee families and 26 rural counties.
“Our annual PumpkinFest will be here soon. Family fun, pumpkin painting, Carnival games, goody bags and educational material will be available. $10 per child which includes a pumpkin and lunch and parents are $5 (includes lunch)”
