Cleanup flyer 2 day

It’s time for a fall cleaning in our city. Please join us at 9 a.m. on Friday, September 9 at Bowie Middle School 7th and 8th grade campus, 3001 East 12th Avenue, on the southeast side employee parking lot. We will clean T-Anchor Lake from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Special thanks to all of our wonderful sponsors! Breakfast burritos, donuts, bottled water will be provided by Happy State Bank. Xcel Energy will bring volunteers, leather gloves and they donated funds to pay for a portable toilet for both days. The TriState Fairgrounds and Rodeo will provide volunteers, lunch, soft drinks, trash bags, and a popup canopy. The Education Credit Union paid for 40 safety vests that volunteers will wear both days. The BNPC will provide hand sanitizer and 40 more vests. Please wear long sleeves, long pants, and bug spray.

On Saturday, 9/10/22, student and adult volunteers will clean both campuses outdoors at Bowie Middle School from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Happy State Bank will provide breakfast burritos, donuts, and bottled water and the TriState Fairgrounds and Rodeo donated plastic gloves. The City of Amarillo Mobile vaccine will conduct free adult vaccines. The Amarillo Police Department Liaison Officers will set up a booth. The City Animal Welfare and Management will provide free animal vaccines.

We welcome all volunteers and residents to join us that day. The next Beautify El Barrio cleanup event will be in April 2023 at 9 a.m.

Fillmore, Seventh Floor, from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm and will include lunch. (Note: The March meeting will be held on the second Tuesday of the month (3/8/22) to avoid a conflict with spring break.)

The course will cover

  • Board Roles and Responsibilities
  • Best Practices of Board Governance
  • The Art and Science of Fundraising
  • Providing Financial Oversight
  • Must-Have Documents and Policies

The lead instructor for the series is Roxann Ball, Program Officer of the Amarillo Area Foundation Nonprofit Service Center. Roxann has over 25 years of nonprofit management, accounting, and fundraising experience and has been an employee of the foundation for the last fifteen years. Roxann has served on numerous nonprofit boards and committees and is a graduate of Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science degree.

At the conclusion of the training, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion and enjoy a Graduation Celebration with the opportunity to connect with nonprofit leaders who are committed to diversifying their boards.

The registration fee for all eight sessions is $125.00 per person and includes all materials and lunches. A limited number of partial scholarships are available.
Eligibility Requirements
The goal of the Nonprofit Leadership Academy (Cohort A) is to reach out to under-represented sections of our community and prepare individuals to serve on nonprofit or civic boards.  We are specifically seeking young community members, community members of color, and those who do not have board experience. If you feel you do not meet the above eligibility requirements but are still interested in the leadership training, please consider enrollment in the Nonprofit Leadership Academy (Cohort B) which will start in April 2022. Only people who are a member of our target demographic should register for Cohort A.
